Benston Street Craigieburn, Landscape Upgrade

Consultation has concluded

Hume City Council is improving the landscaping in Benston Street, Craigieburn. The proposed landscaping will include new street trees for increased shade, outdoor furniture and improved street and reserve presentation.

The landscape improvements will complement the recently completed works undertaken to improve cycle and pedestrian connections to the Craigieburn train station. As part of the landscape improvements we are seeking your feedback.

The Landscaping aims to improve the street for users and residents by adding more shade trees, landscaping and introducing seating at rest points.

A draft concept plan has been developed for your feedback. The plan includes:

  • New trees and plantings in the reserves at Hothlyn Drive, Crockett Avenue and Hardy Avenue to provide shade and more greenery.
  • Renewal of street trees along Benston Street to create a shady and consistent planting that will create a distinctive feature of the street.
  • Additional pedestrian paths through the Hothlyn Drive reserve support the recently completed separated path for cyclists.
  • Seating surrounded shade so that pedestrians can rest.
  • Amenities such as rubbish bins and bike racks will be provided in proximity to the train station.
  • Improvements to the overall look and feel of Benston Street by introducing, attractive new plantings, paving and furniture.
