Dates of significance

Consultation has concluded

Council is committed to connecting our proud community and celebrating the diversity of Hume. One of the ways we do this is by observing culturally, socially, environmentally and educationally significant dates.

Previously, we have observed these dates in a number of ways including a civic reception, event, city signage and social media. Some departments will also observe dates as part of their service programming – this consultation will not impact on this.

We sought to understand which significant dates were important to you and what you would like to see Council observe, if there were any dates that were on the list that shouldn't be there, and if any were missing from the list. This has helped us develop a cohesive strategy across the whole of Council.

The final list of chosen dates will be chosen based on an assessment of:

  • Level of community impact
  • Aligns with reputation
  • Aligns with Council stance
  • Financial cost involved

Your responses will help us become culturally responsive and achieve positive behavioural change.
