Introduction
The City of Hume spans approximately 504 square kilometres. To make open space planning across such a large area easier, the Open Space Strategy was developed by looking at the City of Hume in smaller areas we have called 'precincts.'
The precincts are used for planning purposes only and are also used in Hume's Community Infrastructure Planning Framework to make sure open space and community infrastructure planning aligns.
This page focuses on the precincts in Hume's south, which include:
- Precinct 6: Greenvale
- Precinct 7: Valley - includes: Tullamarine, Attwood, Westmeadows and Gladstone Park
- Precinct 8: Broadmeadows - includes: Broadmeadows, Dallas, Jacana and parts of Meadow Heights and Coolaroo
- Precinct 9: Roxburgh Park - includes: Roxburgh Park and parts of Meadow Heights, Coolaroo and Craigieburn
- Precinct 10: Somerton - includes: Somerton, Campbellfield and part of Craigieburn

The map below shows the open space opportunities in Hume's south.
The project pin colours correspond to which key policy direction the project falls under:
- Orange - Optimise: Open spaces designed and maintained to provide multiple benefits
- Blue - Grow: New open spaces in areas of highest visitor and/or ecological needs.
Open space gap areas are also identified with blue, purple and orange circles.
You can also see individual precinct maps in the document library on the right.
The projects on the map are not a complete list, and are not yet prioritised or costed. Sharing your feedback on these projects will help us develop and shape implementation plans for each precinct.
Funding will then be sought via Council’s annual budget processes, contributions, partnerships and grants.
