Background
Hume City Council has recently completed improvements to the western entrance of the Meadowlink Linear Park, Broadmeadows. Some of the new features of the entrance area include signage, picnic seating, landscaping, tree planting and a basketball half court, which contribute to a welcoming entrance for the linear park.
Council is in the process of commissioning an artist to design and paint artwork over the basketball half court.
Artwork
Council is seeking your feedback to inform the creation of an artwork that will be installed on the basketball half court. The proposed artwork will enhance the presentation of Meadowlink and help to create a vibrant place for local activity and recreation.

What we heard
Community engagement was open for three weeks;
- 300 community engagement postcards were mailed to surrounding community.
- There were 60 visits to this page in this period.
There were 13 engaged community members;
- 12 people filled out the survey online.
- 1 person mailed their response via postcard.
Community were asked to have their say with the following question being asked, ‘what artwork theme would you like to be explored for the Meadowlink Linear park west entrance basketball half court?
The top two themes chosen by the majority of respondents were;
- ‘Aboriginal culture’ (chosen by 4 people)
- ‘Native Australian plants and animals’ (chosen by 4 people)
Council will use this information when commissioning an artist to design and paint artwork.
