Hume City Council is planning to enhance Melba Avenue as a local destination for outdoor dining and convenience shopping.
The improvements to Melba Avenue will focus on pedestrian and vehicle safety while providing an attractive setting for outdoor dining and for social connections.
The proposal for Melba Avenue includes:
New street trees
Enhanced outdoor dining environment
New outdoor furniture
Improved footpath and pedestrian access
Carpark re-alignment and improved accessibility
Installation of a raised pedestrian platform road crossing
The streetscape design aims to retain established trees where possible, however the removal of one established tree is required. This tree will be replaced by two trees of a suitable species in the same location. An overall net gain of approximately 14 trees and additional shrubs will be delivered by the Melba Avenue streetscape plan.
Feedback was due by Sunday 2 May and you can do this by:
emailing Council
telephoning: Alex Prendergast on 9205 2200
posting: Hume City Council, Urban Design, PO Box 119, Dallas VIC 3047
This project has been partially funded by the Victoria State Government Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions.
