Background
The park at 66 Highfield Drive in Mickleham does not have a formal name. Council has been approached to consider applying to the naming authority to give it a formal name.
It was informally named 'Discovery Park' by the landscape architects when designing and developing the park. They chose the name to be in keeping with the jungle/safari theme of the space which included:
- a nature hill climb walk
- waterplay along a dry creek bed
- wild safari animal sculptures
- and adventure play elements.
Why is Council asking for feedback?
The park has become known as Discovery Park by community members and is in keeping with its design. The application also meets a number of the naming principles.
To comply with the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria and Hume City Council’s Place Names Policy, Council is required to invite local residents to have their say on this naming proposal.
