Background

Council has previously requested community feedback for a proposal to name a reserve located at 18 Rhyolite Drive Craigieburn, the Aitken Hill Recreation Reserve.

Community consultation for the name Aitken Hill Recreation Reserve is now complete. Based on the feedback received this name may cause confusion in the community. The confusion is due to other existing, or potential future use, of the names Mt Aitken or Aitken Hill on nearby features. Council is now considering an alternative name, Rhyolite Drive Reserve, for this reserve.

Community feedback is now being sought on the proposed name of Rhyolite Drive Reserve. This alternative name will help identify the location of the reserve for visitors or newcomers to the area.

In accordance with the Naming Rules for Places in Victoria – Statutory Requirements for Naming Roads, Features and Localities – 2022, and Hume City Council’s Place Names Policy, Council is inviting local residents to have their say on this naming proposal.
