Background

Council wants to hear from the community about a draft design to improve the land Council owns outside the Railway Crescent shopping strip in Broadmeadows.

Railway Crescent is a small but important local shopping area. It is used by local residents, people who work nearby, and commuters, and it helps welcome people into the Broadmeadows Activity Centre.

Earlier in 2026, Council spoke with local traders, business owners, and landowners to learn how the area is used and what could be improved. Their feedback helped shape the draft design, which focuses on making the area safer, easier to get around, and more welcoming.

This project is part of Hume’s Places Program, which supports improvements to local shopping strips across Hume. You can also find information about this project on the Projects and Works page.

The design looks great! However, is there any way to have the Telstra payphone upgraded to have free wifi?
