Background

Hume City Council is preparing a Public Space Plan for Westmeadows, with a focus on public infrastructure, landscaping and facilities managed by Council. The Public Space Plan will help Council to deliver a long term and coordinated approach to future improvements, upgrades and enhancements in Westmeadows by providing character guidance and identifying priority projects for capital investment. The plan aims to identify aspects of the local area that are important to the community – allowing Council to enhance highly valued features and ensure funding is spent where the community identifies priorities.

Council is undertaking community engagement to understand what is unique about Westmeadows and what is important to the local community. Community consultation will provide input to the Public Space Plan and help to shape the future of Westmeadows.

The Public Space Plan will guide future Council investment in Westmeadows and may include improvement to the below:

  • Streetscape enhancements - including paving, footpath connections, seating, outdoor dining furniture, lighting.
  • Enhanced greenery and landscape features.
  • Recreation and leisure access and equipment.
