Background

Council has prepared Amendment C250 following a request of MAB Corporation, the owner of the land. The amendment applies to land at 140-204 Western Avenue, 47-67 Wright Street and 69-99 Wright Street, Westmeadows (see map below). The amendment proposes changes to the Hume Planning Scheme to facilitate the land to be developed as an industrial and residential precinct.

Amendment C250 was on public exhibition from 13 May to 15 June 2021 and Council is currently working through submissions received to the amendment. More information about the amendment process can be found in the supporting Fact Sheet. Note - the Fact Sheet was updated on Monday 31 May 2021 to correct an error in the contact email address.

What does the amendment do?

The amendment proposes to rezone the land within the Urban Growth Boundary from Farming Zone – Schedule 3 (FZ3) to approximately 10 hectares of General Residential Zone – Schedule 1 (GRZ1) and approximately 16 hectares of Industrial 3 Zone (INZ3) and apply the Development Plan Overlay – Schedule 33 (DPO33) to the whole of the land.

Supporting the amendment are five separate Section 173 Agreements (legal agreements) that seek to secure the provision of supporting infrastructure relating to traffic mitigation works, open space, a landscape buffer and affordable and social housing.
