The Redstone Hill Precinct includes the established residential area of Jacksons Hill and planned new communities outlined in the Sunbury South Precinct Structure Plan that will be developed over the next 20 years. Redstone Hill is bounded by Vineyard Road/Shields Street to the north, the Calder Freeway to the west, Watsons Road to the south and Emu Creek to the east.

The unique hilltop location of Redstone Hill provides exceptional views of the Melbourne city skyline to the Macedon Ranges and overlooks Sunbury's vineyards, and down to Jacksons Creek. It also holds a significant place in Aboriginal history and is believed to be the site of the Batman ‘treaty’.

Three new community facilities have been identified as a requirement for this Precinct in the Sunbury South Precinct Structure Plan, as the priority in this Precinct is to increase the amount of community services and community infrastructure in line with the population growth.

The key recommendations from the Draft Community Infrastructure Plan for this Precinct are to:

The projected population growth will require the network of open space to accommodate a range of uses to support residents to maintain their physical and mental health and wellbeing. Open space will also be required to increase the urban forest in this Precinct, as it is highly vulnerable to extreme heat events. New open space will need to provide for increased social recreation opportunities as well as active sport, and there is also an opportunity to maximise some encumbered open space (such as drainage and powerline easements) through shared paths, picnic seating and off leash dog areas.

This table shows the key open spaces for this Precinct. Please give us your feedback on these using the Open Spaces Map below.
