The Valley Precinct is located 15km north-west of Melbourne’s CBD and is characterised by its undulating terrain and views into the Valley and Moonee Ponds Creek. It consists of four distinct residential neighbourhoods – Gladstone Park, Tullamarine, Attwood and Westmeadows. It is bounded by Melbourne Airport to the west, Woodlands Historic Park and Mickleham Road to the North, the Western Ring Road to the South and Moonee Ponds Creek to the east.

This Precinct has many linear reserves with a hilly topography. There is a regular bus service which circulates the Precinct, however many of the residents choose to drive instead of taking the steep path network. Services and facilities that are within a walkable distance will help address this issue.

The priority for this Precinct is to upgrade and address issues with ageing facilities that are no longer fit for purpose. This will ensure that the community, including those who are retiring, ageing at home, and/or living alone have access to services, while also accounting for new younger households who are moving into the Precinct.

The key recommendations from the Draft Community Infrastructure Plan for this Precinct are to:

Heading north into Attwood, the quality of open space in this Precinct is reduced and there is a need to consider securing the Attwood Creek Linear Reserve between Attwood and Greenvale to protect and conserve it, as well as to create linear walking connections. There are also opportunities to improve pedestrian connections across the suburbs.
