Proposed Budget

The proposed Budget 2026/27 has been set based on Council's priorities.

It provides $244.99 million in services over the next financial year to work towards the priorities and strategic objectives set out in the Council Plan 2025-2029. This includes:

  • $100.31 million towards a liveable city of well-designed and connected places
  • $69.10 million towards a climate resilient city with a healthy natural environment
  • $28.78 million towards a healthy community that is inclusive and proud
  • $46.80 million towards a well-governed Council that is strategic and trusted

The proposed Budget focuses on providing stability, delivering essential services, and supporting our most vulnerable residents, while continuing to invest in a liveable, inclusive and connected Hume.

Council’s 2026/27 work program, and proposed budget, has been informed by consideration of 110 ideas suggested through our community ideas process late last year.

Some highlights of the services and projects under each of these priorities include:

A liveable city of well-designed and connected places

  • Design improvements to Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium
  • Lighting improvements in the Sunbury car park
  • Begin delivery of Jacksons Creek Vilana Drive Community Centre
  • Reconstruct Mitchells Lane between Horne St and Wilsons Lane Road
  • Reconstruct Carrick Drive Road
  • Start work on improving Somerton and Section Road intersection
  • Enhance of open space and play spaces
  • Upgrade local roads and footpaths
  • Deliver waste services

A climate resilient city with a healthy natural environment

  • Enhance the ecological values of our open spaces
  • Initiatives to support the transition to a low carbon future

A healthy community that is inclusive and proud

  • Deliver acoustic improvements to D S Aitken Reserve Pavilion
  • Install gym equipment at Arena Recreation Reserve
  • Install outdoor exercise equipment at Aston Fields
  • Deliver Hume’s Hockey Second Pitch and Pavilion
  • Deliver Willowbrook Recreation Reserve Pavilion
  • Deliver pickleball line marking
  • Provision of library and leisure services
  • Delivery of maternal and child health, preschool and kindergarten programs
  • Delivery of aged and disability services
  • Delivery of arts and cultural events and programs

  • Advocace to secure investment in our city
  • Enhance customer experience
  • Enhance community engagement activities.
