Hume City Council adopted the new Community Engagement Policy on 22 February 2021.

The Community Engagement Policy can be viewed in the documents tab or on the Hume website.

How the policy was developed

In June and July 2020 we asked the community about how Council undertakes community consultation and engagement, and how you wanted to participate. Over 500 people shared their thoughts with us. You can find out more in this engagement summary.

We analysed the community feedback, looked at best practice approaches to engagement, and the legislative requirements of the Local Government Act 2020 to develop the Draft Community Engagement Policy.

The Draft Community Engagement Policy was available for public comment from Tuesday 22 December until Sunday 17 January 2021.

Feedback on the Draft Community Engagement Policy was reviewed and the final Community Engagement Policy was adopted by Hume City Council on February 22, 2021.

			Comment was able to be made on the draft policy using an interactive document reader.
			An online survey asked what you thought about the eleven engagement commitments
			People could ask questions about the policy using the question and answers tool.
			Written submissions could be uploaded, sent via email or posted.
